The Wolverine Magnetic Anti-Laser protective filter from Kase has a coating that ensures that laser energy does not pass directly or indirectly through a lens and damage the sensitive image sensor of a camera. This layer of protection is useful when shooting in environments where lasers may be present, such as concerts, stage shows, bar scenes, parties and more. In general, laser pointers have an output range of 1 to 5 milliwatts, while stage laser lighting can reach more than 10 watts and architectural applications of laser lighting can include 40 watts. Exposure to laser light can damage the image sensor or the sensor's coating, which can manifest as red, purple, or blue spots, or in extreme cases as vertical or horizontal streaks. This filter not only reduces the level of laser energy transmission, but also acts as a light pollution filter, reducing image discoloration due to artificial environmental light sources.
This filter is made of shock-resistant optical glass and has multi-coating and resistance coating. It is water and oil resistant, making it suitable for use in harsh environments and bad weather, yet easy to clean. The magnetic filter attaches directly to the 82mm magnetic adapter ring and can be removed just as quickly. The slim filter ring design is suitable for use with wide-angle lenses without vignetting.
